The BEE Community: Making Small Changes Toward a Big Goal

This year’s Premiere Market will feature a very special merchant with a very special story: The BEE Community.

In October 2017, The BEE Community was founded to create an innovative work community that provided a sense of belonging, meaningful work, and lifelong learning for adults with disabilities. The BEE Community is also a place where those with or without disabilities build authentic relationships.

Since about 80% of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed nationwide, the BEE Community came up with a sustainable solution to this issue in the Bryan-College Station area. Its artisans are adults with special needs who create beautiful, handmade products in a supportive and positive work environment. The BEE Community also collaborates with local experts to create quality goods and currently sells those goods locally.
